Defeat budget cut proposed for US Institute of Peace

The US Institute of Peace was created during the Reagan administration, in part, to resolve conflicts throughout the world and to train others to do so. Referred to as a "do tank" rather than a "think tank," it has enjoyed bipartisan support. Until now. At $35 million, its annual budget is a tiny fraction of what we spend on defense. Indeed, many high-ranking defense officials see this as money well-spent because successful diplomacy costs much less than war. Now, with no explanation, the Trump administration has proposed to eliminate all funding for the Institute.
