A crosswalk in front of Anaverde Hills Elementary

Currently the parents at Anaverde Hills Elementary are facing a problem with heavy car congestion and not enough safe places to park and drop off children. Parents are left with the inevitable decision to park on the northern side of Greenbrier and jaywalk to get to the southern side where Anaverde Hills Elementary is. On January 26, 2017, a grandparent of one of the students was hit by a truck driven by another grandparent of an Anaverde Hills Elementary student who was distracted, driving at an excessive speed limit, and had driven around the car drop-off line that takes up the eastbound lane of Greenbrier that curves around from Ave S. There are many other parents of Anaverde Hills Elementary students that are concerned of cars driving over the speed limit through Greenbrier due to the lack of speed bumps, crosswalks, and crossing guards directly in front of the school. Currently the nearest crosswalk to the school is on the corner of Greenbrier St and and Parkwood Dr, approximately a 3 minute walk to the actual school. Parents, grandparents, and guardians of Anaverde Hills Elementary are calling on City of Palmdale to approve a crosswalk with a crossing guard in front of Anaverde Hills Elementary. The safety of the students and community members depends on this safety feature!
