Have you ever been teased by staffs just like you are an idiot, if you are a student of De Anza? Are you tired of the endless rude and unprofessional attitude when you need to get some help from a receptionist or a representative in school? Many staffs in various departments, such as admissions and records office and office of counseling and advising, of De Anza College, Cupertino, California have serious problems with their working attitude and their attitude treating students. Irresponsible, throw-it-over-the-wall, interrupting students when asking questions, rude and condescending, or even fun-making speech, never responding to any calls or emails......These words and phrases can be applied easily to some behaviors of DA staff. Although most of these bad attitudes and behaviors don't apply to the field of discrimination or harassment, every student in the campus still has the right to be respected! So, at here, I want the school district to take any of my methods I mention below as solutions:
(1) Student Rights as established in Board Policy 5500, should be modified. School district or other superior department should add more policies about the mutual respect between the students and staff, including policies and determinations about rude or disrespectful speech, attitude or behavior.
(2)De Anza College and the FHDA Community College District should establish a department, which SPECIALIZES in solving all the informal and formal complaints, but NOT just let students to file a form and deliver it to a specific office.
(3)De Anza College and the FHDA Community College District should use the method of rating system, in which each staff in any department of De Anza college will be rated by the student whom he/she serves. Questionnaire answered by students should also be used for such cases.
