With the recent murder of Julian Lewis on August 7th by a Georgia State Trooper, the state's Use-of-Force laws have come under scrutiny. Mr. Lewis died being pulled over in a routine traffic stop. He was shot because in the state currently, police officers are not uniformly regulated on how to execute use-of-force laws. At this time, the power to execute use-of-force is up to the discretion of the officer as long as they comply with state or local laws.

An incident that would have most likely resulted in a traffic ticket in Atlanta, resulted in the death of Mr. Lewis in Sylvania, Georgia. This murder was unjust and preventable. However, Mr. Lewis's death doesn't have to be in vain. With your signature on this petition, you are helping to make no further incidents of excessive force by the police occur in Georgia.
