Georgia lawmaker Park Cannon was arrested and charged with two felonies for knocking on the door Governor Brian Kemp was locked behind while signing a restrictive voting bill.
Cannon had every right to witness the signing and was in no way trying to commit a felony. Tell Kemp to drop these erroneous charges against Park Cannon.
The newly signed law, among other restrictions, imposes identification requirements for mail ballots and makes it a crime for third-party groups to hand out food and water to voters standing in line. While proponents have said it is necessary to shore up confidence in Georgia’s elections, critics countered that it will lead to longer lines, partisan control of elections and more difficulties voting by mail.
The arrest was a stunt and if she’s actually convicted it will be devastating to her and her career.
