Buffy Stanley started this petition to Governor Brian Kemp and

Corporal Punishment in the Georgia public school system should be outlawed. The Federal Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) (42 U.S.C.A. § 5106g)

" Any recent act or failure to act on the part of a parent or caretaker which results in death, serious physical or emotional harm, sexual abuse or exploitation"; or
"An act or failure to act which presents an imminent risk of serious harm."

Physical punishment for and/or by any means has the potential chance of harming children mentally, emotionally and physically.  Many other states have outlawed such practices.  It is time for Georgia to join in the effort to protect our children.
