Ban Single Use Plastics in Georgia

Ban Single Use Plastics in Georgia
Why this petition matters

Plastic affects every single aspect of our lives nowadays. It has many uses, from our toys, to our clothing, to our kitchenware, to our hygiene, it's very prominent in today's society. However, this comes with a great drawback. Plastic, particularly single-use plastic, takes thousands of years to decompose.
Single-use plastics differ from regular plastics in the fact that they cannot be recycled. Once they are used they are immediately thrown away, only to end up in a landfill, or worse, the natural environment. Single-use plastics include rappers, straws, coffee cups, toothbrushes, etc. These plastics are by far the most detrimental to our natural wildlife and environment, not only in the fact that they are immediately disposed of, but also in the fact that they require oil to produce, thus contributing to global warming and emissions.
We do know how to combat this though, through shifting the production from single-use plastics to sustainable materials such as bamboo, hemp, metal, glass, etc. These materials either decompose naturally or can be reused indefinitely, thus tackling both the issues of plastic pollution and global warming.
The time for action is now. The Earth is dying, and it's up to us, the people, to take action against it. Will you be on the right side of history?
