Whitney Pass started this petition to Governor Brian Kemp

Kratom is a toxic, highly addictive opioid substitute. It has no right being made so readily available given its highly addictive qualities and harmful side effects. We control amphetamines and opiates by requiring prescriptions from a doctor but then allow a pill that mimics these same effects to be sold at the local gas station. Of course, gas station owners love them because they are so highly profitable. Drug addicts turn to them when they need a quick high. It exposes its abusers to addiction, abuse, and dependence. While studies on kratom are still being produced, I have witnessed firsthand how highly addictive it is. It has been on the DEA's list of drugs and chemicals of concern for years and several states have banned this drug already. Let's help give addicts the best chance at recovery by not allowing these to be sold to the public.
