Keep 8th grade promotion as it has been for years. Keep the same timeframe and dress code as in past years. Keep it at a time that most working family members can attend.

The importance of the 8th grade promotion is to showcase this milestone in their young lives. The 8th graders have worked hard for these achievements. Families are the biggest supporters of these students. Limiting the families' ability to recognize the students' accomplishments by changing the time of day, which has been set for so many years, is not acceptable. The change also will not allow parents to attend the ceremony without taking time off work. As it is currently scheduled, parents working a job during the day wont be able to attend without taking time off work; and parents working night or swing shift normally are either starting their shifts or preparing for their work day. This change effectively excludes the parents and families from the ceremony.
Promotion is an important event for families to be together to watch their students transition from middle school to high school. This is an evening of families joining their students and watching them make the walk to transit out of middle school to high school. Them, being presented publically, in front of their friends and families, we believe, is important in affirming their successes and recognizing their accompishments. Their next milestone will be their high school years. Why not keep their memories of their middle school years a positive one by ending it in a very positive way? Let's take this stand and encouarge Mr. Crain, to reverse this oversight, so that we may participate; in congradulating are student on their completion of middle school, and encourage them as they take their next steps into high school.
