Stop Holding Cruel Animal Acts at the Space Coast State Fair

Space Coast State Fair has a reputation for holding cruel animal acts at their annual event in Viera, FL.  In the past, the Space Coast State Fair has held barbarous rodeo events but has taken it to the next level this year by exploiting monkeys and sharks. The "Banana Derby" (http://www.bananaderby.com/ consists of forcing monkeys to ride on top of dogs and then encouraging them to beg for money while a chain is tied to their necks.  The "Banana Derby" is a callous event that has raised media attention and has even been kicked out of several state fairs, including the one near Gainesville, FL.

In addition to the "Banana Derby", the Space Coast State Fair has added another outrageous event to their schedule, "Shark Encounter". (https://www.haaisharkencounter.com/  Sharks do not belong in captivity and should especially not be traveling from event to event.  Not only do these sharks suffer from the stress of constant travel and insufficient swimming space, the audience is often encouraged to bang on the glass, creating more stress and agitation for these animals.  PETA already has over 62,000 signatures from people who want to see this attraction end.  (http://www.peta.org/action/action-alerts/urge-fairs-cancel-cruel-shark-encounters/

In addition to this petition, Space Coast Animal Rights Action Team has coordinated a protest against the Space Coast State Fair that will take place on the evening of November 11th, 2016 from 5:30pm-8:30pm. (https://www.facebook.com/events/189630124817814/  Space Coast Animal Rights Action Team, PETA and local activists will continue to draw attention to these inhumane "attractions" until they are pulled from the fair schedule for good.

Please pull animal cruelty attractions from the Space Coast State Fair.
