In 2009 due to losses at Dublin Bus, the fleet, jobs and the Nitelink services were severely cutback. As the Nation’s capital and main point of access to the rest of a country which promotes tourism as one of its main industries, Dublin is severely lacking in adequate late night public transport services.

Many an event I personally have declined to attend for the sole reason that I have no affordable means of returning home, and this I believe is a widely shared experience.

As Dublin Bus, along with its parent company CIE, has returned to profitable operations, and indeed the city has changed drastically since 2009, it is time to re-implement a late night service to some degree on weeknights, and particularly, bank holiday weekends.

In doing so, we support many of the cities’ businesses which open late and make Dublin more accessible to those whom otherwise would not attend weeknight events due to challenges in returning home.
