The mainstream media is rife with political speak, manipulation, and constant conflict. The American people deserve the whole story on any subject, without any strings that would push them to think a certain way. We see this every day on CNN, Fox, MSNBC, CBS, just to name a few. A vast majority of the news we get is infected with either democratic or republican speaking points, and it seems like there is no middle ground anymore. There are no news networks free of bias, and no news networks that seek to harmonize the American people. Instead these media machines seek to divide us among their manufactured talking points and it is working. For the good of this nation, we must not allow ourselves to be manipulated so freely every day. Be it a news channel refusing to cover a certain story because it hurts their agenda or talking points, or if a network frames a particular story to fit their narrative. I am tired of seeing it, we are tired of seeing it, and it only serves to further divide the great chasm that separates us from our brothers and sisters. The news has manipulated and radicalized us all. The middle ground has evaporated, and with this petition we hope to reinstall that middle ground where people can agree to disagree and still have respect for one another. A middle ground where the agendas of news agencies and political parties as well as the political thoughts of one or a few people are not infecting the whole populace. Please my fellow American people, we must work together to see the harm that this has really done to us all. I want to see news that is not propaganda for an affiliated political party. I want to see news that presents stories on an unbiased basis which shows two sides to complex stories. We as Americans all want to see this, and want not to be shoveled garbage that increases the size of the echo chamber. Let us all remember that the news media networks are for-profit organizations. They are wagering our future and our standing amongst each other on profit and profit alone. The ratings matter to the people who run these platforms, not the truth, or the people that are manipulated or affected by their greed and apathy. Our generation and the ones that come after us will surely benefit from a more unified and logical America that does not rely on some dubious pundit for political opinions, but instead relies upon its own critical thinking and rational thought. A law must be passed for this to occur. It has gotten to a point where it seems this will never change. I cannot believe that Americans are beholden to such trash daily, on platforms where hatred, tribalism, and subliminal indoctrination runs rampant as ever. Please my fellow Americans, hear my plea, and together, let us change the very foundations of our information network for the good.
