Jamie Sutherland-Pownall started this petition to HSE and

140 deaths at work. Each year.

Over the past 7 years, the number of fatalities as a result of workplace related accidents and incidents has plateaued.

1 workplace death in any year is unacceptable. We in the UK are amongst the safest and healthiest workplaces in the World, yet we are now in a position where around 140 people go to work, but do not return home - each year.

More now needs to be done by both Central Government, the Health and Safety Executive and Local Authorities to ensure that the current trend of workplace fatalities is broken, and year on year reductions are achieved.

No workplace death is acceptable. Better guidance, more targeted regulation and increased funding in resource in our regulatory bodies is required to bring the number of workplace deaths down, and support employers to keep their people safe.

Help me call on the Government to do more to help keep workers safer, healthier and free from harm when at work.
