The whole reason why I am making this petition is because the school me and a few of my other peers are in a situation where the school is strict on us, they take up our phones while the other schools in our district doesn't take up their students phone's, me and my peers understand that we are in school to learn and graduate but at the same time we feel like it's unfair. The most responsible action a student can make is to do their work if school is really a preparation for life shouldn't it have the same elements as it ? A big point the school also is missing is we have LIVES some of us have: sick family, kids, work or just general emergencies in life as ANY OTHER HUMAN. With saying this the school incorporated a rule where if you knew you were going to get a call and told the teacher they'd let you answer it but what about the calls we don't have planned? Truth is anything could happen it's a piece of mind as well as a piece of our property. Many will say you don't need a phone and for some that is true some don't but some do and having a rule restricting everyone at the same level (a low level) is entirely unfair. The school also allows office calls incase of something happening however some of us (me included) do NOT want our personal lives recorded or over a school line. This is not only a privacy issue as it is a issue with hassle; if we could answer something in a text out of the palm of our hands or even a call it'd be much more simpler for everyone. As well as the fact the so called "distraction" isn't one most of us just want to listen to music (most is blocked on the Chromebooks) not to mention there were distractions way before cell phones were mobile in classes (class clowns arguments many others) so to say the phone is the so called "root of the problem" is simply untrue. Please keep in mind you don't know what our home lives. are like or the rules our parents set with our phones. Another great reason to not take them up is we have to DOWNLOAD APPS ON OUR PHONES to order lunch as well as we were supposed to download multiple other ones even though remember can't have our phones out also very important is the rise of covid being worse than last year with several deadly deadly types of it all of our phones on top of each other in the same bucket over and over is a breeding ground for the worst.

Also another problem students have found is the dresscodes are ridiculous. To the point multiple people each day are getting into trouble for something as simple as a hat or hood. Our school is small close knit like a family is and we care about our students and staff however we can recognize our peers even with the hoods and hats there isn't any reason the administration shouldn't either. The reason for that rule is simple which is school attacks we understand this but there is a MUCH simpler way to deal with the issue at hand; an ID (we've had prior years also so shouldn't be much of an issue) would easily cut out the worry all we'd have to do is show it to a staff before entering the school. Many females also feel as if the dresscodes in our DISTRICT is unfair they are basically the same across the board for females. "don't show skin how dare you? You'll distract others (boys)" Not a single male is worried about what a female is wearing or distracted it is their body it is their right to choose to wear what they want and do what they want with it. I hope this can remedy some of the strict rules that to us seem to have extremely easy fixes thank you for reading please consider signing.
