Recent episodes of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills have exhibited gross insensitivity to those struggling with lifelong chronic mental ilness by having an influential figure like Lisa Rinna diagnosing a friend with having  a 'psychotic break' repeatedly to countless people  even when the friend expressed disagreement.

Bravo has aired over and over for years Lisa Rinna without any professional training using clinical terms, making treatment recommendations  in an unsolicited manner. In this episode her ignorance is crossing the line where she is misapplying the  highly stigmatic term 'psychotic' in the context of alcohol use and environmental stressors.  This is simply clinical name calling as a form of bullying.  A person experiencing a psychotic break is now associated with the behaviours Lisa Rinna is describing on the show which is not accurate.  In some cultures those experiencing psychosis are viewed as the elders and mystics of the community.  What is depicted here is an inaccurate distortion and a complete lack of boundaries and respect for others.  

The stigma of mental illness is real and to see Lisa Rinna abuse people in this manner for entertainment is wrong. Bravo is giving Lisa Rinna a forum knowing that   Lisa has no clinical professional training and it is causing harm to others on national TV.  Why turn a blind eye to this behaviour?  Because she is Lisa Rinna. It is irresponsible for her to do clinical formulations intended for use in a professional treatment relationship as she wishes on the show.  This is a gross abuse of power and Bravo is airing her vindictive and harmful content as entertainment.

Bravo appears to have made an active effort of trying to include multicultural housewives in recent years but needs to make efforts for the chronically mentally ill community. This content is likely harming and offending so many with mental illnesses (it adds a drama element to psychosis).  Bravo should know people with no professional training hurling unsolicited highly stigmatic clinical terms at  someone is not acceptable and exhibit zero tolerance with Lisa Rinna and her repetitive behaviour. 

We are in a time where people are struggling with mental illness and we need understanding and respect for people's personal journey. Watching Lisa Rinna and her entitlement believing she can therapize  people while exhibiting hostility towards a person who was struggling with regulating her emotion is so so wrong. The more disturbing part is she shamed the person and on TV called for her version of 'accountability' and dictated how it should be done. She is in a position to be an outlet of good in the world but instead her conduct is very concerning and not constructive.  Please do not condone this behaviour on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
