Continue funding Chiara Hinds at Thorpe House

My sister Chiara is 20 years old. She has Down's Syndrome, bipolar disorder and severe autism. Chiara is happily living at Thorpe house, one of a handful of specialist private homes catering to the needs of autistic adults. The care she receives has transformed Chiara's quality of life: she has lost weight and is fit and active; she participates in a vibrant community of autistic adults under the supervision of her support worker; and she's slowly acquiring basic communication and life skills that can only be taught by specialist staff like those at Thorpe House.
In the past week, our family has been notified that Bradford social services will permanently withdraw funding. Our beloved sister stands to lose her home.
We believe that Bradford social services are carrying this out for no other other reason than welfare cuts. They wish to send Chiara to a regular care home where the standard of care is inadequate, and where staff will not have the high level of training required to look after severely autistic adults. We cannot allow this to happen. It is deeply unfair that large corporations can avoid their tax burden; and yet where government freely takes money from the most vulnerable in society. This report by The House of Lords illustrates the extent of the corporate tax avoidance problem:
Please sign this petition and stop Bradford Social Services from banishing Chiara to a home which is unable to cater to her needs. Places like these are often staffed by underpaid and inadequately trained staff. We want the best for our sister, and this a slipshod solution motivated entirely by economic expediency.
