Joe Karkoszka started this petition to Bradford Metropolitan District Council

The Bradford Met are insistent on building a services 'Hub' on the site of the Mechanics Institute and Keighley Boys Grammar School and, latterly the Technical College. We the undersigned want that space kept open for the people of Keighley to enjoy. A Town Park, on which town centre events can be held, and a place where people can relax. Furthermore it would also complement the Town Hall Square and many people have commented how nice it looks and that it would benefit the town if kept open. Bradford City has its City Park with its multi million pound water feature, even Bingley has its Market Square, but Keighley has nowhere to put on open-air events in the town centre.

The proposal to build the 'Hub' will, apparently be mostly funded by the 'tenants' and partly by the council and according to BMDC free up 15 other buildings which will no doubt be sold off and the money taken out of the town and pumped into the city centre.

Keighley has been starved of investment for far too long, it is high time Bradford did something for this town instead of always for the city. They list things in the papers as investment in Keighley, but the things they do are not funded by Bradford but by other organisations, for which they try and take the credit.

People of Keighley get behind this petition, it will the be taken to both the Keighley Town Council and BMDC...

Keighley doesn't need a 'Hub' but it does need Open Space....
