You may not be aware that our county was recently aerially sprayed with a controversial chemical called Naled to control mosquitoes. Most people were okay with this because they assumed it was the same chemical used by the mosquito trucks. It is not, and it is much more toxic to humans and the environment. We have confirmed bee mortality in our county after the spray, as well as sick dogs. The group Bradford County Residents Against Naled was created as a response to this aerial spray. Our goal is to present scientific research, along with support from the community, to the Commissioners. The decision will be theirs to accept or decline Naled spraying in the future. We are also suggesting safer and more environmentally friendly optoions to the mosquito problem, such as spraying BTi (which is EPA approved to kill mosquito larvae and stop the life cycle).
