The Brontës moors threatened: STOP the housing plan right now!
Pourquoi cette pétition est importante
In Yorkshire, nature and literature are both in great danger because of "progress". A few months ago, the Bradford Council decided to start a "development' housing project., that threatens to completly destroy the Yorkshire moors. This wild, unique landscape is well known as the Brontë's home and literary inspiration. More than a beautiful view, in Charlotte, Emily and Anne's work it is the best symbol of wildness and authenticy you can find... the proof that not everything can be "developped" or bought. If the moors, the core of every single Brönte book, have to change for the sake of money, then their whole legacy is going to die.
This "development" plan is going to be a cultural, ecological and economical disaster as well. The Brönte Way and parsonage museum you can visit there are among the most touristic places in Yorskire... and they are nothing without this settings. The economic argument to destroy or change them is a complete nonsense, and we don't need to touch them to build new dwellings.
If you sign this petition, you can help me make the Bradford Council change their plans and save the moors. Let's proove that nature and literature don't have to be sacrified for money!
