Help stop the unfair treatment to battery hens!
Why this petition matters
Imagine being an animal, imagine what it feels like to feel the grass beneath you feet ( if the animal you are imaging has feet). Imagine what it feels like to drink out of a puddle, to feel the dirt squish beneath your toes, to be able to go where ever you want. That is the best thing to an animal, and its called freedom. And that is something that battery hens don´t have. They are stuck in a cage the size of a piece of paper. If there is not enough room for them to turn around in their cage, they can´t do every day things that chickens do, such as scratch, peck, explore, dust bathe, interact with flock mates, etc. Their whole life is spent indoors they never get to see the sun. Chickens should be able to do their everyday activities. Also chickens who free range and roam and peck and scratch tend to be healthier and therefor lay healthier eggs with bright yellow yolks, than chickens kept in cages. Also, battery hens are mistreated, there are high, toxic ammonia fumes that cause many respiratory diseases that can lead to death. Also their food is kept in troughs out side of their cages, when they stick their heads out of the bars of the cage to get to their food, it wears away at their feathers on their neck, and once the feathers have been worn away, it wears away at their skin and causes painful blisters on the poor chickens´ necks. There is a thing called pasture raised chickens, these chickens get to roam, scratch, peck, dust bathe, and interact with other chickens. They are taken care of properly. They lay really healthy eggs and are really happy chickens. If we replace battery hens with pasture raised chickens, we not only will be helping chickens, but also will be better for us as humans because the eggs that we buy at the store will be healthier and therefor we as humans will be healthier as well. You can help give these chickens the right to their freedom by signing this petition.
