Enough is enough! Since March 2020, state governments have issued COVD restrictions to the cultural and arts industries whilst granting exemptions to the sporting and other politically selected industries.

Locking down Victoria while the Australian Open in Melbourne goes ahead and the 3rd April Broncos game at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane whilst the Byron Bay Bluesfest is cancelled, are two high profile examples of the thousands of cancelled arts and cultural events.

Given the COVID scientific evidence available at the end of 2020, the absence of a hospital load emergency in Australia, and the availability of vaccines since Dec 2020, such orders and their inconsistency are not public health orders based on scientific evidence.

This petition calls on all Australian Health Ministers to apply COVID public health orders consistently, as public health orders based on the scientific evidence. All Australian Health Ministers must immediate cease and desist the targeted issuing of COVID public health orders to preclude its citizens participating in the cultural and arts industry, including past practices of selectively issuing exemptions against public health orders to selected sporting and other non-cultural and arts industries.

Failure to cease and desist such conduct constitutes  an ongoing and deliberate breach by Australia’s Health Ministers of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights - pursuable under Article 27, section 1:

Everyone has the right freely to participate in the cultural life of the community, to enjoy the arts and to share in scientific advancement and its benefits.
