Petition to
Boyertown Area School District

Why this petition matters

Started by Jennifer Ortlip

Free content for our educators is important.  Our teachers and administration cannot be expected to self fund relevant educational content above and beyond what is provided by the public school system and it’s budget.  I believe the need for this content is partially how free platforms like YouTube made their way into our schools.  However, allowing our children to freely access the internet, specifically YouTube, in an uncensored and unsupervised environment is detrimental to the health and education of our children.  We cannot continue to pretend it doesn’t matter.  We cannot assume that “our kid” won’t be influenced by their peers and fall down the rabbit hole that I think most of us have experienced, even as adults.  It’s up to us, as parents, to protect our kids from the dangers they aren’t yet mature enough to recognize as danger, but can so easily access.  The fact that this free, uncensored, access is permitted in the classrooms of even our youngest students is not only appalling, it’s unacceptable.  Let’s be heard.  Stand for our kids, their futures, their minds, and their education.  Please sign this petition and let our school district know that we will no longer sit quietly while our kids have free access to countless uncensored videos while in the care of the school district.
