By rewarding a former Trump propagandist with a major platform, ABC News and The View Executive Producers are telling viewers Alyssa Farah Griffin, former Trump Strategic Communications Director, is a suitable co-host for their number one daytime talk show. The network is choosing to look the other way regarding Farah Griffin’s culpability in Trump’s White House deceptions and failures. 

This isn’t about politics or political affiliation. This is about holding Trump enablers accountable for their actions and words, which have chipped away at our democracy. Viewers expected McCain’s seat to be filled by a conservative, but we never expected it to be filled by a former Trump White House staff member, who consistently lied for Trump and enabled him. It’s insulting and infuriating. I’ve been a long-time viewer of The View, but I will never tune in to hear the opinion of an opportunistic Trump propagandist. Actions have consequences. The integrity of the show has been compromised by the Alyssa Farah Griffin hire.

Alyssa Farah Griffin was a willing spokesperson for Trump’s “Big Lie”. Farah Griffin pushed election fraud conspiracy during her tenure, and continued to do so even AFTER she left Trump’s White House. On election day, she audaciously said Pennsylvania election officials were “putting their thumb on the scale” accusing them of rigging an election to help Biden win PA, which was blatantly false and grossly irresponsible. By knowingly pushing Trump’s election lies, she holds culpability in the January 6th insurrection.

Trump’s refusals to denounce white supremacists are well documented. When Trump asked the far-right Proud Boys to “stand back and stand by” during a national debate, Alyssa Farah Griffin defended Trumps words and intention on Fox News by saying “I don’t think there’s anything to clarify. He’s told them to stand back.”, implying he did nothing wrong. Even though Trump’s own FBI Director, Christopher Wray, said “racially motivated violent extremism, primarily from white supremacist groups, is the most lethal threat currently facing our nation”, Farah Griffin ran defense for Trump. The Proud Boys were energized by Trump’s shout out at the debate and responded in a tweet with “Standing by Sir”. And they did stand by, taking action on January 6th.

Alyssa Farah Griffin's failures and deceptions as Trump’s former White House Strategic Communications Director are clear-cut. She played a key role in shamelessly politicalizing the Covid pandemic. The Trump Administration’s mishandling of the pandemic led to hundreds of thousands of unnecessary deaths. Farah Griffin was directly responsible for Covid messaging and media strategy. As someone who lost a family member due to Covid, the Trump administration has blood on their hands, and that includes Alyssa Farah Griffin. My uncle believed the Covid disinformation and flat out lies Trump’s Covid team pushed out to the public.

Even after Farah Griffin resigned from the White House, she made excuses for Trump’s audacious (and illegal) attempt to interfere with Georgia’s elections, for which Trump and his allies are currently under criminal investigation. Farah Griffin also wanted all of us to move on from the January 6th insurrection, holding no one accountable for Trump's coup attempt per her CNN commentary, “But I also think the country needs to move on from this moment. I don’t think we benefit from re-litigating, over and over, what happened that day. We need to be moving forward.” 

Farah Griffin is also the daughter of conspiracy theorist Joseph Farah, founder of the discredited far-right fake news website WorldNetDaily, which consistently bashes the LGBTQ community and pushed the Obama birther conspiracy. When Farah Griffin was called out about the birther conspiracy she propagated, she said "I was for it before I was against it." Their family business makes millions off of lies and hate. Farah Griffin worked for the fringy online publication with her father as their ‘White House Correspondent’. You know the old adage; the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

Farah Griffin was proud to be part of the Trump administration (until she wasn't), spreading Trump's lies and disinformation, “I am deeply proud of the incredible things we were able to accomplish to make our country stronger, safer, and more secure,” Farah wrote in her resignation statement.

Alyssa Farah Griffin is unsuitable for the seat ABC News has thoughtlessly rewarded her. Again, this is not about political affiliation. It’s about right and wrong. It’s about accountability. Farah Griffin has proven to be a prolific liar in her professional life. She will say anything for a paycheck. Farah Griffin is neither authentic nor credible. We are boycotting The View as long as Alyssa Farah Griffin is sitting at the table. Actions do have consequences. The permanent hiring Alyssa Farah Griffin, former Trump propagandist,  tells us The View doesn’t care about principles, integrity, or democracy. Accountability matters. Let’s make our voices heard!
