Boycott 2014 Sochi Olympic Games: Anti-gay Laws in Russia Spreading Hate

Russian President, Vladimir V. Putin, recently signed a law banning the adoption of Russian-born children not only to gay couples but also to any couple or single parent living in any country where marriage equality exists in any form. Mr. Putin also signed a law that allows police officers to arrest any person (Russian citizen, tourist, or foreign national) who is suspected of being gay or "pro-gay." This could mean that any Olympic athlete, trainer, reporter, family member or fan who is gay — or suspected of being gay, or just accused of being gay — can go to jail.

The new laws also introduce fines for those who are suspected of spreading "homosexual propaganda" to minors, which may cause a "distorted understanding" that homosexual and heterosexual relations are "socially equivalent." Critics have called the new laws homophobic and so vaguely defined that they will inevitably be used against gays and stir hate crimes in the country. In fact, they already have - take a look at the pictures in this article to see how bad it has already become

Please stand with us to boycott the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games and urge NBC Universal, the official network to air the games in the U.S., to join the boycott as well.

Boycott 2014 Sochi Olympic Games: Anti-gay Laws in Russia Spreading Hate

Please do the right thing and boycott the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games due to the recent anti-gay bills signed by Russian President, Vladimir Putin that have already spread hate and violence on the Russian LGBT community. Not only is the Russian LGBT community at risk, but having the Olympic Games in Sochi will also put homosexual athletes and Olympic fans at risk of being jailed, along with any gay supporters.

By boycotting the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games, we are uniting our voices to say that hate is NOT okay!
