Nancy Powell-Brace started this petition to Bovis Homes

This petition is to persuade Bovis Homes, in their Bagley Road development in Rockwell Green, to name at least one of the new roads/avenues/streets after ODETTE HALLOWES. Odette was a WW2 spy for the BRitish government behind enemy lines in France. She was a member of Churchill's SOE.

Odette lived in Whiteball for two years during the war caring for her mother in law, Mrs Sansom. It was from here that she was recruited to the SOE and it was here that she returned to after her release from Ravensbruck concentration camp to recuperate. She is known to have said (fact) that in her darkest times during solitary confinement she would close her eyes and remember the people and the views of Somerset and how kind the county had been to her and this was one of the significant images that helped her get through her torture and imprisonment.

Withe the new development so close to Whiteball, the 75th anniversary of VE day this year and GWR honouring her with a train named after her, I would like to bring pressure to bear on Bovis Homes to recognise her in this way and, furthermore, ask for other significant Wellingtonians to be recognised along with her in the same way.
