Boulder schools will not excuse absences related to Covid-19 until there is a CDC-confirmed case within Boulder. Boulder Valley School District should reconsider this position. If a parent feels anyone is their family is at a particular risk for Covid-19-related complications, the parents should have discretion to begin tele-schooling their children now. According to an email sent to parents earlier in this developing situation, BVSD is currently already prepared with tele-schooling capabilities.

This petition is NOT to cancel schools, though such a petition would be met favorably by myself. This is simply a petition to allow parents to exercise their discretion to keep their families, particularly high-risk family members in the same household, safe during this unfolding and uncharted situation.

Update: This petition should be in effect during the state of emergency that has been declared.
