Give special needs children opportunities they deserve in our innovative farm school

I am asking for your support to create a unique school to meet the special needs of children in the local area. I aim to transform my paddocks into a learning environment to engage children through outdoor activities.

As the parent of a child with autism, I fully appreciate the impact the right school can have on the development and well-being of a young person with special needs. I was lucky enough to find a small special needs school in London; The Chelsea Group of Children, which enabled my son Nicholas to flourish and become the happy young man he is today.

Now I would like to develop my land to provide others with the same opportunity.

Lincolnshire has a high proportion of children with specific and complex needs. Unfortunately, local parents may be forced, as I was, to travel outside of the area – often many miles every day – to access a suitable school for their child. The Willow School aims to address the current lack of provision within the area. I want to provide a solution for local carers who are seeking a safe, nurturing learning environment for their loved ones.

The Willow School will be the sister school to The Chelsea Group of Children; the rural companion to their London-based setting. It will enable children in Lincolnshire to access their renowned, prestigious educational approach. Locally-recruited staff will work alongside highly-qualified staff from London to increase local expertise and offer Lincolnshire children with special needs the best possible start in life.  The pupils will be surrounded by nature and will develop their life skills through doing meaningful tasks to become more independent. Every measure will be taken to meet their educational, physical and emotional needs, giving them a solid foundation for their future.

Sadly, I have resorted to starting this petition because of the opposition I have experienced from a small – but forceful – few. Some nearby residents are trying to prevent the development of the site on completely unsubstantiated grounds.  In recognition of this, I have included some key facts, listed below for all to reference.

Please help me in my application for planning permission by signing the petition. The Willow School will be an asset to the local area, and life-changing for children with special needs and their families.
