Ordinance Change to allow Tinton Falls residents to keep backyard Chickens as pets

As the current ordinance is written for the Borough of Tinton Falls, NJ, residents are not permitted to possess or keep chickens as pets, unless their house is on over 5 acres of land and is legally labeled as a Farm.
I propose a change to the ordinance that will allow residents to keep backyard chickens as pets for eggs (just hens since noisy roosters are not needed for egg production).
The town of Eatontown just recently changed their ordinance to allow for chickens and I believe we could change ours as well and we could even use their ordinance as a guide for drafting ours.
I wrote a letter to the Mayor and the Borough Council, but getting signatures will give them a good glimpse into how many residents care about this change.
So, please sign this petition and we could begin the conversation with the residents of Tinton Falls, NJ!
