The law states in the UK that an animal for slaughter must first be stunned, unless intended for consumption by Jews or Muslims. However the illegal distribution and consumption of halal meat is taking place on a very large scale.

Animals slaughtered for halal meat have their throats slit until they bleed out and then the meat is prayed over or blessed in the name of Muhammad. A man who married a 6 year girl when he was 54.

We demand that our local takeaways stop illegally serving this meat to all of their customers regardless of their faith, and use meat that is slaughtered humanely as per UK laws for non Jews and Muslims.

Borneo is a local favourite in Sunderland who has been unwittingly serving halal meat to its customers in ALL of their dishes without even showing the mandatory symbol on their menus. It is not acceptable nor lawful for this to continue.
