I think the government have handled the pandemic appallingly, including locking down too late in 2020, leading to so many unnecessary deaths.

Despite being told by the Care Home that mum was being isolated when there was an outbreak of Covid , she wasn’t and I saw her on Face time always in the common lounge , I took screenshots . She was being actively taken there by carers as she was immobile . In a few days almost all residents in her unit were infected as was she . She was given no food or drink and I was told she would not be hydrated as she could ASPIRATE because of a “chest infection “…..finally she lost consciousness for lack of hydration , was then examined by a specialist who told me her chest was clear , she could not explain why mum was denied water . I was told she could not be hydrated at hospital as no hospital would take her because of Covid ! In the end after about 7 days of no food or drink she died ….alone , without any member of the family with her . The Home denied any fault , as did the Local Authority, to whom I turned in a panic reporting the discontinuation of food and liquids while mum was still alive and fully responsive. I was not allowed to take her back to look after her at home before the spread of Covid at the Home …it was always her wish to die at my home .

Like many others who lost family members, I lost my mum. Enough has not been done to protect us and it just seems to be getting worse. From the party at no. 10 - lowering the isolation time, the government aren't think about people, it's all about money and business.

Never forget those we lost because the government didn't put enough heart and soul into their decisions.
