Why this petition matters

Started by Susan Jones

All of us are trying to live with a virus that we do not currently have a cure for. Restictions for many have been extremely tough and understandable. For many the restrictions are less than they first were.

However for the elderly the restrictions remain. With many not having seen a family member since March. Yes this is some peoples reality. No family visits and also any sign of a cough or cold and some are then confined to their rooms. Not all rooms have televisions and many elderly people are not okay with social media. Can you imagine what that would be like. These poor people are literally going out of their minds. Mental health suffers which can lead to a break down of physical health also.

Care homes are not cheap, care being the reason why. I feel very strongly that the elderly person does suffer under these restrictions. Their mental health but i feel this is against their human rights also and where possible everything should be done to enable families to visit their loved ones. Some of whom may not be well and could die having not seen their loved ones. This is indeed tragic.

I would like to see that between Boris Johnson and the care homes themselves visiting pods be set up to enable families to visit their elderly relatives. I feel this is needed for their well being and the families well being.

I have pictured some the ones without people in all came in at £1000 or under. This is not a lot when you consider the high rent many of these people pay.

Please sign this petition and help me to help put elderly and their families on the agenda with the government.

Yours sincerely

Susan Jones
