I am starting this petition to hopefully achieve a change of a Bank Holiday after we have beaten Covid-19. The reason for this change is so that we never forget all of the people that have died from this horrific virus that has taken our loved ones away from us far too early. It would also allow us to reflect on all of the people that have sadly had their lives taken away by, selflessly looking after our vulnerable people in care homes all around the country. Also, all the NHS staff that have gone into work every day to administer critical care to try and keep as many of our loved ones alive and to help them fight to try and beat this coronavirus. This has took extreme courage and has been a rollercoaster of emotions for all of them, but they have carried on regardless . We must also take time to remember the lives that we have lost whilst in lockdown due to mental illnesses where people haven't been able to cope with not being able to interact with friends and family . We must also remember all the people that are still working, without all these key workers the country wouldn't have coped; also to all the companies who have changed their manufacturing processes to make essential ventilators for our hospitals, and also PPE to help with the national shortage . Furthermore, let's not forget all the volunteers all around the country that have helped in many different ways during this pandemic. We must never forget any of these people and by having a national day to recognise these people, they will never be forgotten. We will be able to celebrate their lives, so that they live on forever. Please take a few minutes to read this petition and to sign it. Let's make this change happen.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

David Gemmell.
