Janet Lee started this petition to Boris Johnson (Prime Minister)

I find it absolutely unacceptable that certain companies/individuals are making an unacceptable profit from the current situation, under the umbrella of "supply and demand".  In the current climate we all should be finding ways to help each other to make sure we all have WHAT WE NEED, when we need it, without having to spend £70 on Amazon for a toilet roll (for example).  Online organisations should be taking steps to remove such advertisements from their sites - if they allow this to continue to happen they are confirming that the think it's acceptable - which for 99% of the human population it isn't!  People making profit from other peoples' misfortune is inhumane, obscene, and thoroughly abhorrent.

I am not a socialist, but cannot understand why every "1st world" country seems to be suffering the same problems of stockpiling and extortion.  You can take a five minute look at any news programme - 95% of what is being reported is bad news stories about thoughtless individuals/companies, leaving just the last few minutes to report on the odd good samaritan trying their best to help others.

There must be a way for the government to stop these ruthless people - I know that people will say widespread rationing is not necessary at this time, but leaving it to retail companies to install their own restrictions is not working......two or three of any item is fine, but then shoppers visiting five or six different supermarkets on one day, taking these restrictions, still allows people to stockpile items when many, many others cannot source even the most basic items, leaving their only option to buy online at extortionate prices.  This has to happen now.  Or do we want to start seeing reports of deaths due to malnourishment rather than Covid-19?  I am not being alarmist, I am, like many other people, horrified at how our fellow-man can be so selfish and inconsiderate.
