Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, we need fairness across the board for all Self  Employed workers. The Government’s new Self-employment Income Support Scheme is invalid for many people.

How is it fair that only some, NOT ALL Self  Employed are entitled to 80% of their salary?

What about those newly self employed people who have worked for themselves for less than a year? (ie; do not have a 2018-19 self employed tax return). If you are able to prove income and tax payments or savings into a bank account since the start of self employment then this should be adequate!

What about those who thought they may be entitled to a small business grant, but are not as they don’t meet the criteria?
The offer of Universal Credit or Statutory Sick Pay of approximately £400 per month will NOT cover bills, food & mortgage for a family.

We need some fairness and parity here. Taking out a loan or just deferring payments will result in many families losing their homes, through no fault of their own.

Where mental health is a major issue in today’s society, lets have blanket cover for the Self Employed across the board.
