Return of the Channel Islands to France.

Return of the Channel Islands to France.
L'importance de cette pétition
The Channel Islands were stolen centuries ago by the English. Under the rule of French king Phillip II, France was able to reconquer the majority of Normandy form English occupation. However, the Channel Islands (consisting of Jersey, Herm, Guernsey, Sark, Alderley, Burhou, and Lihou) were kept and occupied by the English Kings for centuries, in defiance of the treaty of 1259 that ceded Normandy back to France.
Therefore, the United Kingdom has been illegally occupying French lands for 762 years (France was forced under pressure to recognize British sovereignty in the 1815 Paris treaty). This injustice to the territorial integrity of France can no longer go unopposed.
We demand that :
- The self-governing possessions of the United Kingdom of the Bailiwick of Guernsey and the Bailiwick of Jersey, be formally returned to the French Republic by the United Kingdom.
- That the title of "Duke of Normandy" be abolished in the United Kingdom, as it explicitly attacks French sovereignty.
- In witness whereof, the French people address these demands to the concerned Parties : the Government of the United Kingdom and France, aswell as the United Nations Security Council.
