Protect travel industry jobs and give the sector the support it needs

Nearly a year into the Covid crisis and the travel industry remains effectively closed down, with zero dedicated financial support.
January, usually the busiest time of year for travel agents and tour operators, has been dominated by headlines featuring ministers urging the British public not to book a summer holiday, depressing an already fragile market.
Travel is hugely supportive of measures to stop the spread of Covid but right now, an entire sector faces catastrophe unless urgent help is provided. TTG Media is calling on prime minister Boris Johnson, the cabinet, and the rest of the UK government to:
- Provide the travel industry with regular updates on major policy decisions – it needs firm guidance so businesses can plan;
- Re-establish a travel taskforce, this time with industry representation, ensuring greater collaboration across government on travel; and
- Commit to providing dedicated financial support for the industry, including an extension to the furlough scheme that is tailored for travel.
We are calling on everyone in travel, everyone with an interest in or passion for travel, and everyone with a stake in travel, to support this urgent call by signing this petition today.
