Private candidates must also be awarded the predicted grades from their teachers

Private candidates must also be awarded the predicted grades from their teachers

The Issue

The education secretary has clearly stated that, “ My priority is to ensure no young person faces a barrier when it comes to moving on to the next stage of their lives- whether that’s further or higher education, apprenticeship or a job.”

The private’s candidates are also devasted due to the cancellation of the exams in May and June. This will have a major impact on their coming year. The private candidates must also be awarded their predicted grades based on their mock exams and assessments under the supervision of their tutors and teachers. This would be extremely unfair for the private candidates to sit their exams later on in the year, as they have applied to universities this year. In my opinion the government and the exam awarding bodies must put their trust in their teachers and tutors as they put it in the NHS. The only issue is that the private candidates are a minority and their voice might not be heard by the government.

My daughter has applied to a university this year and she was supposed to sit her exams in May and June. She is very anxious and depressed due to the cancellation of the exams. If her exams will be taken in September, that’s a problem too, as she won’t be able to get into the university this year. The predicted grades rule must also be implied to the private candidates who are dreaming to get into university this year.
