My friends and I are avid fans of Pokemon Go for various reasons:

  • Fitness
  • General Health and Well-being
  • Mental Health
  • Creating a Sense of Community
  • Building relationships with others across the platform

We all live miles apart from each other, but share a group chat in order to keep up to date with the game. We believe the game should be exempt from any lockdown rules - of course, maintaining social distance and wearing masks. As a person who suffers with various mental health issues, the app motivates me to get up and go out for a walk every day. Whilst I understand it may sound 'silly' to those who don't play, it's important for us to get out and about. We all enjoy walking around, completing game tasks and competing against one another. Due to an increasingly large amount of people ending jobless, it also means we cannot spend money for 'in app purchases' - which allow us to play remotely. I believe that as long as people are wearing masks, keeping their distance and staying safe, there should be no issue in prioritising games and applications that keep people busy and well.
