I have started this petition as I feel there is a great injustice which has taken place which needs to be urgently addressed.

I understand that India has been placed on the Amber list by the UK government recently, previously they were on the Red list, yet, up until today only 7.9% of the population of India have been fully vaccinated.

I am happy of course that India moving onto the Amber list will benefit those who need to travel to India, I have no problem with this decision or the reasons behind it, but I expect the UK government to play fair.

What I DO have a problem with is that the Philippines, which have actually vaccinated 9.5% of their population are still on the Red list?

Why is this?

As I am sure you are aware, we have over 30,000 Filipino healthcare workers in the UK who have contributed so much to the fight against Covid and yet they can’t even go home to visit their families without massive cost in time as well as charges.

But in addition, we have over 250,000 Filipinos in the UK, who contribute massively to UK life and our country, yet they seem to have been unfairly treated? Please extend the same courtesy to them or explain the reasons behind this anomaly?

Surely this can’t be right or fair? I am calling on the UK government to explain why India has been treated more favourably than the Philippines?
