Open all restricted roads up to blue badge holders
In recent weeks all councils have been closing/restricting roads to all blue badge holders. Disabled people need access to all roads for mental health ,mobility and health safety reasons. They have carers that help them within their community, they have carers that take the burden off the NHS and help people with disabilities live in a predominantly abled bodied society. public transports sadly isn’t good enough for some disabilities most trains/tubes can’t be accessed with wheelchairs or mobility issues. I know from experience with my son and daughter that a quick car journey to get to school/college/friends/family/socialising makes the day so much easier, less painful less fatigued doesn’t everyone deserve that ??
I would like to see all restricted roads have no bollards and just licence plate reading cameras Installed like they have in congestion areas. So a exemption can be granted to blue badge holders just because they can’t walk or cycle enough to get around safely they shouldn’t be penalised. They are issued blue badges after passing a strict guideline questions so they then shouldn’t be stopped from getting around Areas that make their lives easier. Not everyone has the choice of walking or cycling pain free or fatigue free pls don’t make their lives harder than it already is.
