James Fowler started this petition to Boris Johnson (Prime Minister) and

My Father passed away on the 4th June 2019. He died suddenly of a Ruptured Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA).

AAA, Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm. An abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a bulge or swelling in the aorta, the main blood vessel that runs from the heart down through the chest and tummy.
An AAA can be fatal if it isn't spotted early on.
It can get bigger over time and could burst (rupture), causing life-threatening bleeding.
Men aged 65 and over are most at risk of AAAs. This is why men are invited for screening to check for an AAA when they're 65.

As researched men are more prone to getting AAA and the weakening of the Aortic happens over time.
About 9 in every 10 people who have a burst AAA die before they get to hospital or don't survive emergency surgery to repair it.

Screening can pick up an AAA before it bursts. If an AAA is found, you can then choose to have regular scans to monitor it or surgery to stop it bursting.

The screening test is very quick, painless and reliable (A little bit like a pregnancy scan). Research suggests it can halve the risk of dying from an AAA.

As most conditions/ testing or scanning, the NHS/MPS/Health Minister places a  age on the testing, which as we all know are not young enough or happen to be too late, despite the fact that it is more common in a certain age group it doesn't mean people cant get the condition or sadly die from it at a younger age.

I am currently trying to raise more awareness of this condition and get the NHS to lower the testing age to 50 years which is when I believe they could see the wall of the aortic starting to thin or bulge and hopefully prevent it from bursting through an operation or a stent.

I would ideally like to discuss this with someone who has more control/ power over the restrictions on testing and hopefully pursued the NHS/Health Minister to lower the testing age of AAA.
