Mollyellen Purcell started this petition to Boris Johnson

I have started this petition on the behalf of year eleven students across the country. As the government keep expressing the severity of this global pandemic why are children being expected to do hours of school work for exams which have been cancelled. We fully understand that there will be in class assessments and teachers making decisions on grades but the main priority should be children’s mental health.Bombarding year eleven students with work and online lesson after online lesson is ridiculous. From last years year eleven students why are the government not learning from their mistakes and realising what affect this is having on people’s mental health. The idea of the national lockdown is to protect lives from physical illness but the government have yet to acknowledge that mental health needs protecting too.Year eleven students are not asking to stop doing work nor online lessons we are asking for a reduced week to allow us students to look after our mental health. The government are treating matured teenagers in society as if we are children and our opinions are uneducatedbut yet expect us to do the work load of an adult.Something has to change.
