I believe that everyone should be allowed to be their true self and let others know who they are, no matter what. Do you?

Trans rights in the UK are an utter disgrace. From what I have gathered if you wanted to change your legal gender you would have to present (among other things) a diagnosis for your gender dysphoria from a doctor to a Gender Recognition Panel. This is extremely unfair as the NHS waiting list for appointments confirming this are exceptionally long. Once you finally got that opportunity you may be misdiagnosed or end up with a transphobic doctor, ending up with you having got no certification and back at the bottom of the list (if you're even allowed). Once you, if ever, get a diagnosis you then proceed to apply for your Gender Recognition Certificate, This would mean you could change your legal gender.

If you wanted to acquire a new Birth Certificate with your name and gender you would have to present documents showing that you had been living as that gender for 2 years prior! Presenting an unimaginably agonizing wait for a person to finally get their legal rights that are afforded to their sex.

Also, If you wanted to undergo surgery to transition to what you felt was your true gender you would not be allowed until you were 18. As you can imagine this poses a huge problem for transgender people below the age of 18. They would have to almost complete their entire legal education before they could feel right. So, just to be clear, once someone has braved coming out they would have to wait ages for a diagnosis (or not), then wait at least 2 years for a chance to get a new Birth Certificate AND if they were U18 they would have to wait until they were the legal age until they could try to get surgery to make them feel happy. PLEASE HELP ME CHANGE THIS!
