With the broadcasting rights for the 6 Nations due to be sold there is a very real threat that it will disappear behind a paywall (Subscription TV) and be lost for millions of viewers on free to air tv. Sky have emerged as favourites to land the contract that would take matches away from terrestrial tv. They have also banned a joint bid by the BBC and ITV this time.

 The Six Nations is a national treasure and an historic tournament that brings thousands of people together from all of the nations involved, it’s a time when  everyone should be able to enjoy on free to air tv and just for the ones who can afford subscription tv.

we call on the Government and sports minister to upgrade its status to a Grade A protected Tournament and keep it free to air for everyone.
