Over the past couple of days, ive been thinking about the little boy named Arthur, im honestly heartbroken about it and cant get it from my mind. 

The boy was killed by his dad & step mum during lockdown in the UK. Again many agencies failed to understand the seriousness of what was going on in this child’s home. 

Safeguarding is key to my job role, but i honestly believe it should be part of everyones education. So many out there that dont know when to speak out and share their concerns. Honestly anytime you feel a concern, just report it, you maybe saving a childs life. To all childcare settings and staff, have you been unsure when to share information with your local Safeguarding team? Could you ever forgive yourself if this happened to one of the children in your care and you didn’t act quick enough?

Personally its something im passionate about, and i want to highlight the importance of safeguarding in the UK, if anyone feels the same way. There are many Safeguarding courses you can access, its so important to be updated as there is so many dangers out there and changes within environments constantly. Its good to be aware for all childrens future's. I feel that safeguarding should be introduced to all schools as part of everyones education, moving forward more businesses also should be encouraging all staff to take safeguarding training, everyone should be aware and educated on the signs of abuse. 

Its so important to share any information not matter how small to your local LADO. It could just be the missing piece of the jigsaw thats needed to help save a child’s life. Its never down to just one person to Protect a child, its everyones duty of care to be aware of signs of abuse. Dont stand back incase you are wrong, speak out. 

To Arthur, a beautiful little boy who deserved love and help, im so sorry you suffered in the way you did and was not protected by us. I hope that we can make these changes happen, in your name xxx
