Innocent Black and white civilians are being unlawfully harmed by police within riots with the use of rubber bullets and pepper spray and riot shields. Those injured have suffered horrific injuries both physically and mentally. This includes the use of these weapons on young children. Police are using these weapons with brute and unlawful force. It is a violation of human and civil right. Behaviour like this is fascistic, cruel, and anti-democratic. It sets a dangerous precedent, stokes violence, and makes the innocent afraid.

The ban on both of these within these riots needs to be immediate, there are no consequences for the police on injuring these innocent and peaceful protesters, no one is above the law, even those working within it. The ban on these will implement safety, reduce the use of violence within the protests that are hugely peaceful until the police engage with the use of these weapons. Amnesty International have made a similar request and we add our voices to theirs.
