The government has decided to give people with mortgages and even big business financial support and this is admirable.

However the same government is excluding some of the most vulnerable people in the country. With over 4.5 million private housing tenants. This is a large group of people to neglect.

Many hard working employees will be forced to take statutory sick pay of just £94 per week without any housing benefits. Currently even the unemployed will have a better weekly income compared to an employed person that is self isolating due to corona-virus.

Tenets are some of the most exploited people in the country. Most rent is much higher than mortgages in comparative sized property's. This is largely due to greedy landlords exploiting hard working people who are unable to get onto the property ladder.

The government is asking people to self isolate for 1- 12 weeks. This will financially ruin many the UK's working family's

Not acting now will cause several issues including but not limited to family breakdown, homelessness, unemployment even more mental health problems. Inaction will also lead to further pressure on the NHS and the economy in the long run. 

I am calling on the government to take steps by providing extra financial support for working people who are on statutory sick pay (SSP) to also include full housing benefits from day one throughout the duration of self isolation due to corona-virus.
