Becca Marten started this petition to Boris Johnson (Prime Minister) and

As a Student at Edge Hill University, I believe all universities should legally follow the same policies and regulations to ensure every student in University is not disadvantaged.
Firstly, all universities should introduce a “no detriment policy” meaning that all assessments going forward for every student in every year (in the UK) can not score below their current mark for the year but can still score higher.

Secondly, some students are now left without library access, computers, internet and a quiet place to study. Universities are only offering ‘7 day extensions’ on most of these assignments, which I believe should be extended. Those who contract Covid-19 or know someone with Covid-19 can apply for exceptional mitigating circumstances and submit work in August. However, this also disadvantages third year students as they will not be able to graduate with their peers in July. Therefore, I propose that all Graduations are pushed back to November/ December. Some Universities have already made this change and therefore, it would be fair for all Universities to do the same. This will allow all students, including those who need extensions due to personal reasons, and EMC students submitting in August, the opportunity to still graduate with their peers altogether. This will also decrease the chances of graduations getting cancelled completely and giving all students longer on their assignments, without the pressure of missing out on graduation for third years.
