Cumbria County Council is set to approve a new coal mine which would last until 2049.

Introducing the UK’s first new deep coalmine in 30 years before welcoming nations to attend a UK Climate summit seems deeply embarrassing. Having already formed and 'led' a Power Past Coal Alliance, save the humiliation, and the danger, whilst you still can. 

Boris, this will compromise your potential to be deemed an internationally recognised green leader. 

We in Britain are in the position to invest in a green economy, create green jobs and a more sustainable future. This decision seems like a complete disregard of the UK's supposed climate initiative. 

The UK government must step up and take responsibility for future generations, whilst also using our wealth and power to set the pace for the rest of the world.

Yes, there is an opportunity for jobs with a new industrial plant - but it doesn't have to be one that puts our planet or our children at risk.
