Why this petition matters

Started by Steven Joy

If employment is to increase at the airport, and if expansion plans are to be realised, whilst removing vehicles from the congested roads, a rail link to Leeds Bradford airport needs to be realised. Plans are afoot for a Parkway Station approximately a mile away, on the Leeds Harrogate line, however it is generally felt this would be a red herring, simply because people lugging kids and baggage, won't want to transfer off a train to a bus. Especially when they can go to Manchester, right to the terminal.

A city the size of Leeds, along with Bradford, deserves an airport of some quality.

Further, a rail link would benefit some commuters from the nearby town of Yeadon, and allow them to leave their cars at home.

I know the airport is the highest in England, but now is the time, to show if we want something doing, we want it doing right.

Time and again Leeds is overlooked when it comes to transport. Bad enough being the largest city in Europe without a metro system, that we also have to ferry people to our airport, some 7 miles out, at peak times for over an hour, by bus.
